Seattle

Over the course of my life, Seattle has been one of those places I’ve visited often.  Having a family member who lives there now and others who had lived there for some time, it’s become a familiar place.

While in the Navy Reserves, they allowed you to pick where you would like to have your two week’s training every other year.  In my second year, I chose to train at the Bremerton Naval Hospital just north of Seattle to visit my uncle who was living there.

Having grown up in the Midwest, it was a new reality to me.  Between the beauty of the Olympic National Forest, the towering Mt. Rainier, The Space Needle, and the beautiful views of the sound, it was a site to behold.

Later in life, I worked for a company that was based out of the area which allowed for me to visit quite often for events and training.  One of those times was right after the Seahawks won the Super Bowl.  Our hotel was situated downtown and the city was hosting a parade for them.  It was quite a site to see.

By that time, my sister was living in Seattle and it occasionally gave us time to catch-up with each other.  The photo above was taken while we were on one of the Seattle ferry boats.  I liked the shot as it spoke to me about family and history.  It seems that the older we get, the less these times come back to us unless we take a stroll through a photo album or are reminiscing with family.

Looking back through some older photos this afternoon of times spent there, I can remember when and where I was during three different seasons of my life.  In each season, Seattle was a small part of that time.  And, in each of those seasons, family was there.  We may not always agree on things, but we have love for each other even if we don’t see each other that often.

So, today, here’s to Seattle and the memories it holds. Most of all, here’s to the family who’ve lived there and who live there today.  Life will continue to bring us together and we will be able to look back and see where Seattle played a role.  Love you sis…!

Love always,

Brad
