What is it about shopping that makes most men feel like they need a nap or just need to sit down?.. Often when enjoying an afternoon with the Mrs. shopping downtown the hunter in me takes over and the only thing I'm focused on is either a nice photo opportunity or finding the nearest 'man chair'.
Yes! That place of refuge where a man can just do what they do; sit and wait. That time when we can look out at the passers-by and think about... well, NOTHING! The man chair provides just that place. A perfect blend of escape and relaxation while time passes by during the Mrs's testing, trying on, and chatting with other ladies about the latest fashion or great place to shop. Not that I mind saving money or seeing the Mrs. enjoy herself after finding that 70% off deal on the clearance rack. Just the opposite, as a matter of fact, I love to see that!
The man chair does remind me of life, though. How nice it is to find that time when we can just stop and sit while life around is continuing to move along. It doesn't have to be a deep meditation or super solumen time. No, it's just a time when we stop thinking about the cares of life and stop doing anything all together to take a break for a few minutes. I need to do this more!
We have a front porch with plenty of seats for doing nothing but sitting there while life goes by. It's not lazy, it's not a waste of time, it's a time for letting the cares of the world take a break. Tomorrow, I will be taking some time to do just that and I would encourage you to do so as well. Even if it's just 10 minutes a day. We all will be better off for it. So, the next time you're shopping and find that man chair, take a moment to just sit and do... Nothing! :)
Have a blessed week my friends!
The front porch of our home in the warmer months is the epicenter of drinking coffee, petting dogs and watching the day move by. It’s one of the only places I can just do nothing. As for finding a man chair? I don’t shop~ my wife has a cadre of women friends or the daughters to pass time shopping me? Amazon, or Lowe’s. That’s it Great photo/blog today.
