Sometimes it just feels like we're spinning our wheels day after day doesn't it? At the end of the day we feel like an empty spool with nothing more to hand out (especially those moms out there...). When it's time to relax and kick-back something else comes along and gets our attention. "Wouldn't it be nice just to take a day and do nothing?" we think to ourselves. Then, when that cherished day comes along, we don't know what to do and end up doing something we told ourselves we would avoid (work).
I don't know if you relate to that but I sure do. Life, at least in America, is pretty busy for those of who are holding down a job and family. Add in church, friends, and that hobby we love and there's not enough time in the day. I look at this old giant spool sitting in the field and think about that!.. Sure, there's other things I could imagine but that's the first thing that comes to my mind; just how busy we are and how we feel powerless to change it.
Maybe it's not such a bad thing. Maybe, we're made to be productive; to have purpose. Maybe we're engineered to keep busy. Maybe not all of us, but I know that's how I"m built. I go stir crazy if I sit too long. What I'd like to find, and I'm sure you would too, is that sense of balance though. This spool is sitting there balanced on both sides. Having that balance of work on one side and equally on the other side activity that brings us, and others, joy. Now, THAT, would be great (and I'm sure t would help lower my blood pressure...).
Today I want to encourage you to think about finding that balance. I know it's something I need and will be looking to find this year. Time's too short not to. We can have both. Maybe then, we'll regain the strength we've been looking for.
Wishing you all a blessed and balanced week-end ahead.. :)
