I Can Only Imagine

Sometimes it seems like no matter what we do, life has been set on its own, winding course.  We keep climbing and, just when we take that last step, the next one is right in front of us challenging us to climb even further.

These stairs in the photo today speak volumes to me.  Every challenge I’ve faced and moved on from, only opened the door to yet another.  The winding curves of life seem to keep us guessing which direction to turn.  Yet, the path we all follow seems to be guided by an invisible hand toward a goal we can’t always see.

One day, I’ll be at the top of life’s stairway and there will be no more climbing needed.  There will be no more pain, no more sorrow, no more hate; just love.   Death, for those of faith, isn’t seen as a loss but as a gain.  The Apostle Paul said it so well, ‘to live is Christ and to die is gain’.

Truly that will be a glorious reunion!  Those who have gone before us and those who will yet join.  Ironically, the song that just began to play on my Pandora while typing this is, ‘I Can Only Imagine’…  Perfect!!   It is one of my favorite songs and ties completely with what’s in my heart today.  If you haven’t heard it, here’s a link below.  It’s worth a few minutes of the day.

You see, there’s pains in life we get over and, there’s pains in life that keep coming back.  They’re like that wound that never completely heals no matter what we do.  It gets re-opened when we see something, hear something, or experience something that reminds us of what caused it.

Pain, for me, is wrapped around loss and injustices that have happened to me and my family.  Things which happened that stole lifetimes of memories from us all.  There is no getting them back.  There is only moving forward to that next step on the ladder.

That is why I long for the day when He will wipe away all our tears and take away all the pain.  That day when we will all be together, and all injustice will be cleared away. Fortunately, He helps us up those stairs even when it hurts.  He is loving and compassionate.

He can help you today too.  If you’re struggling to make it up the next stair of life and it seems like the direction your life has taken keeps changing, He is there to guide you and show you the way.  He’s there to help you carry the load and to help heal the wounds that keep causing pain.  Through His grace, and in Him, we can do all things!  You can make it up that next step and the one after that, and the one after that…  You can make it!...  Just hold on and keep going because He’s always there to give you the strength to continue.

Amen and good night my friends!

Love always,

Brad
