There’s so much evil in our world today…  Yet, when we look at history, things haven’t really changed.  I would dare say people back in the early 40s thought the world may have been coming to an end.  No matter what time or generation we live in, evil will be there.

It takes many forms. Sometimes, it’s the outright wickedness of war.  Sometimes, it’s the horror of human trafficking.  Lately, it may be a deranged person killing our youth at school.  It may be the greed that permeates our society.   It may even come as light to deceive even those who believe in God’s grace.  No matter how it comes, it’s a guarantee that we’ll face it throughout our life in one form or another.

For some of us, evil was let in the door and then a different side of evil came in and destroyed everything in ways we couldn’t even control.  It’s like letting the thief in the door and then, when you aren’t looking, he steals everything you hold dear.

I’m not a believer of the mystic force that is portrayed in Star Wars, but, there is a truth in that.   The very first movie in the series was, ‘A New Hope’.  Light breaking through a hopeless world where the Empire ruled with an iron fist.

In our own lives, when evil raises its ugly head, it’s usually when we don’t expect it.  Suddenly, all hope may seem lost.  That voice (like the dark one in the movie) may even whisper in our ear saying, ‘just give up… no one cares about you or your problems.  No one believes you or cares….’   I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that ugly lie and had to stand strong in my faith.

Truth is the best weapon against darkness, however.  None of us are an island (like in this photo today) and when we break down and let go giving God the helm, His light shines through. The walls of our heart may be broken down, we may not even feel like we have cover from the rain and elements.  That is when His light shines through and brings hope.  We can begin to see new life around us and how these old, dead trees that evil has brought into our lives will be cleared and give way to life again.

I don’t know about you, but there are times in my life that hope alone was what kept me.  When everything was taken from me for something I didn’t do and all that was left was His loving grace and faithfulness, it was hope the was the rudder on my ship.  Hope that kept me getting up in the morning and hope that kept me from going down roads that only led to destruction.

Today, I’m praying that, if you find yourself in a situation where evil has done it’s work to try and destroy you, be encouraged because hope is at your door.  God is the God of Hope because of His great love for us.  He has great plans for us; not plans to destroy us, but plans to bless us if we only hold on and believe.  I’ve seen it over-and-over again.  What He’s done for others He can do for you!...

Let hope fill your heart tonight and, remember, the giver of hope wants you to be blessed and not cursed.  He cares and will always be there no matter how loud that evil voice says He won’t.  I’m praying for you all to have a hope-filled day tomorrow, and the whole week to follow!

Love always my friends,
